RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian government is committed to ensuring that the land rights of communities affected by disasters remain protected. The guaranty of legal certainty serves as the foundation for post-disaster recovery, not only reshaping the physical territory, but also safeguarding the sustainability of the community's social life.

The Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (BPN), Nusron Wahid, conveyed the commitment during a meeting with the House of Representatives (DPR RI) and several ministries on Monday, 19 January 2026. According to Nusron, the state is obligated to be present to protect the rights of the people, especially those in vulnerable conditions after a disaster.

"The government has a responsibility to ensure land status certainty for the public. This certainty is not just for administrative purposes, but is a form of the state's presence in protecting the rights of its people, especially those in the most vulnerable conditions," Nusron stated.

He believes legal certainty over land is just as important as physical recovery after a disaster. This certainty provides a sense of security and serves as the basis for the long-term sustainability of affected communities.

He also affirmed that post-disaster recovery efforts must be comprehensive, not only rebuilding damaged infrastructure, but also ensuring legal and social protection for the community. The government, he said, wants residents to truly be able to recover from the impact of the disaster.

"This is part of the government's commitment to ensure that post-disaster recovery is not only physical but also legal and social. We want the people to rise again, not just in their homes but also in the certainty of their land rights," Nusron conveyed.
