Janice Tjen Secures Hobart Title Ahead of Australian Open

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian tennis player Janice Tjen will head into the Australian Open 2026 with renewed confidence after clinching the women’s doubles crown at the WTA 250 Hobart International on Saturday, January 17, 2026.

Partnering Poland’s Katarzyna Piter, Janice delivered an impressive performance in Saturday’s final at the Hobart International Tennis Centre, Tasmania, Australia, defeating Belgium’s Magali Kempen and Czech Republic’s Anna Siskova in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2,

Antara reported.

The victory marks Janice's third career WTA doubles title and her second with Piter. The pair previously triumphed at the Guangzhou Open in 2025, while Janice also lifted the doubles trophy at the Chennai Open the same year with compatriot Aldila Sutjiadi. In Chennai, she added further distinction by winning the singles title.

With the Hobart win, Janice climbs to world No. 67 in doubles, strengthening her position ahead of the season’s first Grand Slam in Melbourne, scheduled for January 18 to February 1, 2026.

She and Piter are set to open their Australian Open campaign against home favorites Daria Kasatkina and Arina Rodionova. In singles, Janice will face Canada’s Leylah Fernandez in the opening round.

Indonesia will also be represented by Aldila Sutjiadi, who teams up with Italy’s Giuliana Olmos in the women’s doubles draw. Their first-round opponents are Australians Maddison Inglis and Destanee Aiava.

Sutjiadi and Olmos enter Melbourne after a quarterfinal exit in Hobart, where they fell to third seeds Eri Hozumi and Wu Fang Hsien, 1-6, 3-6. ***
