RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia and South Korea continue to enhance cross-border cooperation to advance the creative economy sector through a collaborative cultural event held in Indonesia.
The partnership between Indonesia’s Ministry of Creative Economy and the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA) was embodied in the “HUG K-Pop Concert: K-Life & K-Live Indonesia,” at the Nusantara International Convention Exhibition (NICE) in Tangerang, Banten, Saturday, 17 January 2026.
Vice Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, said the event demonstrated how creative industries can connect countries while opening new economic opportunities.
“This evening is a moment that demonstrates how the creative economy can serve as a meeting point across nations. Cooperation like this is essential to expand networks, open market access, and create new added value for Indonesia’s creative economy. We want Indonesia to emerge as an inspiration and leader on the global stage,” she said.
Irene in a written statement released on the ministry’s official website, Saturday, 17 January 2026, conveyed that such cooperation aligns with the government’s long-term vision of making the creative economy “ New Engine of Growth” for Indonesia.
From the education perspective, Vice Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Stella Christie highlighted the broader impact of the event on learning and youth creativity.
“Music is not only entertainment, but is also connected to science, how the brain works, and the development of creativity. This concert shows how creative spaces can serve as relevant learning platforms with meaningful impact for younger generations,” Stella said.
Meanwhile, KOCCA Indonesia Chief Representative, Lee Gi Haun, said the HUG K-Pop Concert was organized as a gesture of appreciation for Korean-Pop fans in Indonesia, while also strengthening industry ties.
“This event is a gift for fans, while also forming part of KOCCA’s efforts to expand cooperation in the Korean content industry with partners in Indonesia,” Lee Gi Haun stated.
