RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Coast Guard (Bakamla RI), reported various significant achievements in securing national waters throughout 2025. These achievements include thwarting large-scale smuggling, capturing illegal foreign vessels, and strengthening security synergy at both regional and global levels.

The performance report was presented by the Head of Bakamla RI, Vise Admiral TNI Irvansyah, during a Hearing with Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives and the Governor of National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas) at the Parliament Building in Jakarta on Monday, 19 January 2026. In the meeting, the Coast Guard presented a number of concrete actions for law enforcement in the Indonesian archipelago.

"Bakamla RI successfully captured a cargo ship smuggling 1,200 bales of illegal ball press in the Subang Sea. Moreover, the Coast Guard along with a ship from the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, also managed to capture a Vietnamese ship engaged in illegal fishing in the Natuna Sea, and expelled foreign ships that entered without permission," Irvansyah stated in his statement to members of the council.

This positive achievement was appreciated by Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives. Member of Commission I, Syamsu Rizal, commended Bakamla's operational performance, which he considered increasingly responsive. He encouraged Bakamla to reinforce its role as the front line in overseeing Indonesia's seas.

Therefore, we entrust Bakamla to be the leader in proposing the most suitable format for operational monitoring of fishing in the sea, including preventing foreign vessels from fishing in our waters," Syamsu Rizal stated.

In addition to physical law enforcement aspects, The Indonesian Coast Guard also highlights achievements in maritime diplomacy through the ASEAN Coast Guard Forum and the Coast Guard Global Summit. This international cooperation specifically addresses cybersecurity issues and the integration of Artificial Intelligence into maritime surveillance and law enforcement systems.
