RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian powerhouse Onic Esports secured their place in the Knockout Stage of the Mobile Legends: Bang-Bang (MLBB) M7 World Championship after edging out Middle Eastern side Team Falcons 2-1 in the Swiss Stage 5 on Saturday, January 17, 2026.
Onic, featuring Lutpiii, Kairi, Sanz, Kiboy, and Skylar, stumbled in the second game but rallied to clinch the decisive third, sealing their progression to the playoffs.
“This win really boosted our confidence. Alhamdulillah we won 2-1 today and have qualified for the playoffs. Tomorrow we’ll keep giving our best,” said Sanz after the match, as broadcast on MPL Indonesia’s official channel,
Antara reported. The best-of-three series began with Onic in full control. Kairi, later named MVP, struck first blood to establish an early advantage. Their coordinated play and pull-push strategy left Team Falcons struggling to respond, and Onic closed out the opener in just 11 minutes, conceding only one elimination.
Team Falcons responded strongly in the second game. The Saudi-based squad gained momentum early, racking up eliminations and delivering a wiped out against Onic in the ninth minute.
Although Kairi managed to secure the third lord, Onic faltered in the ensuing team fight. Falcons capitalized, wiping out Onic again after eliminating Skylar, leveling the series 1-1 at the 23-minute mark.
“Falcons are a strong team and they didn’t want to lose. They came all the way to Indonesia and fought hard. We also made a lot of mistakes in the early and mid-game,” admitted Kiboy.
In the deciding game, Onic quickly regained control, building an early lead that Falcons could not recover from. The yellow hedgehogs wrapped up the match in 12 minutes, confirming their spot in the Knockout Stage.
Indonesia’s Alter Ego had already secured their place earlier with a flawless run, defeating Aurora Gaming (Philippines), Black Sentence Esports (Chile), and Yangon Galacticos (Myanmar) in straight victories. ***
